The Role:

Responsible for the planning of Production, Sales and Services materials requirements. Issues releases to suppliers and assists in the daily or weekly cycle count. This role will monitor and track top running items to ensure adequate inventory to support Production and Sales and Services orders. Will ensure the smooth running of supply, inventory from the offsite warehouse to the manufacturing.

Under general direction, performs inventory count, analyses and maintains control over production components. Controls daily input and output of production and inventory data for the Inventory Management System (PLEX).

Serve as a backup role to the Production Scheduler.


  • Issues releases to suppliers in a manner to insure production parts arrive on time and least costly arrival;
  • Keeping inventory costs at a minimum effect on cash flow;
  • Creates the manufacturing schedule by creating, prioritizing and managing jobs using PLEX and NYSUS; scheduling jobs to ensure vehicles are produced and delivered on time to customers. This includes matching current vehicles inventory to open orders. Providing input to the PLEX system such as Process Routings and the Production Resource Planning module such as Manufacturing Masters, Jobs, Job BOMs, Job Templates, Job Sets and Control Panel;
  • Responsible for maintaining accurate inventory of all direct and accessory materials required to support manufacturing operations;
  • Monitor assembly inventory and purchased inventory to ensure enough material is on hand to meet manufacturing schedule and Sales and Services requests;
  • Establishes minimum and maximum inventory levels and implements a proper inventory system, such as Kanban;
  • Assists with a prompt, efficient, and timely flow of paperwork, including receipts, shipping documents, and pull sheets;
  • Assists materials handling efforts to ensure timely movement of inventory to the workstations;
  • Performs periodic cycle counts to ensure accuracy of inventory, determining root cause for variance and corrective action and gaining the support of the Director of Supply Chain and Director of Finance before any adjustments are made;
  • Assures Manufacturing has source material inventory loaded at the workstations to support the manufacturing schedule, recommending alternatives if there is a shortage, working with manufacturing to reallocate resources while waiting for material;
  • Investigate and trouble shoot Control Panel errors in Plex and Nysus system to ensure the smooth running of Production;
  • Responds to the Technical Manager’s need to schedule preventive maintenance so that enough inventory is on hand to handle the down time without disturbing the production schedule;
  • Coordinates the efficient implementation of engineering changes with minimizing obsolescence cost;
  • Coordinates the exhaustion of inventory and bringing in new material;
  • Audits the Parts List (Job BOM) to be sure it matches part number;
  • Observes and promotes safe work practices and procedures;
  • Establishes and maintains files and records;
  • Other duties as assigned;

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Minimum four years in a manufacturing/production environment;
  • Bachelor degree in Materials and Logistics Management or related field. Prior work experience can be considered. CPIM or CPSM Certification is highly desirable;
  • Prior experience using MRP systems such as PLEX, SAP, Oracle;
  • Prior experience in product or program launch;
  • Previous experience in inventory control methods and practices and issuance of supplier releases;
  • Must possess necessary computer skills, including the use of Microsoft Office: Excel and, Outlook;
  • Strong working knowledge of computerized inventory management systems;
  • Must be able to follow oral and written directions and maintain detailed records and inventories;
  • Understanding of total cost structure and the impact of decision process on manufacturing, finance, quality and other affected departments so that it is understood how shutdown costs and expediting costs affect the total cost structure;
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 Quality Specifications;
  • Strong attention to detail, problem solving and resolution skills, as well as strong organizational skills;
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, the ability to work effectively in a team environment and strong customer orientation skills are essential;
  • Must be able to recognize, perceive, distinguish, judge, determine, and assess issues pertaining to essential duties and responsibilities of his/her position. Must be able to communicate, convey, discuss, discern and exchange information with Mahindra Automotive North America Manufacturing stakeholders;
  • Work additional hours as required to complete the job

  • Requires the ability to routinely move about the manufacturing floor; with the ability to reach, place/replace, inspect, modify, activate, measure, set up, operate, move, and position various products; lifting up to a maximum of 25 pounds of equipment and/or product, using proper lifting techniques;
  • Must have the ability to diagnose or detect issues affecting the quality of product and/or processes as needed throughout the work day;
  • For the most part, working conditions will be consistent within a typical manufacturing environment, with occasional exposure to elements such as noise, dust, odors and fumes.
